Lesson 1
The objectives
– Distinguish between animal classes;
– Develop a model of the underwater world and get acquainted with it.
Manual for the teacher
– Group work;
– Substituting cardboard between layers, make a three-dimensional picture.
Safety precautions in Steam lessons
Before starting a lesson, the teacher is advised to familiarize himself with the safety precautions. If necessary (in the case of using the items specified in the TB), conduct a brief briefing for kids. Follow the link Safety in Steam Lessons Safety in Steam Lessons
Theoretical part
Animals inhabiting our planet are divided into 6 main classes. The five popular classes of vertebrates (vertebrates) are fish, birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. The sixth class is invertebrates (invertebrate animals).

In today’s lesson, among them, we will take a closer look at the fish class. Fish are animals mainly adapted to life in the water. The skin of the fish is covered with scales on the outside. Fish breathe oxygen dissolved in water through their gills. Swims through fins and tails. Fish live in salt water (oceans) or freshwater (rivers-lakes).

Practical part
Step 1. Let’s prepare the necessary materials.

Step 2. Choose black, blue, and white colors of cardboard paper. Divide the A4 paper into two parts in the middle.

Step 3 Select a layer and a background. Leave black in the very background. Cut from the middle parts of the top layers. The cutout of the two blue layers should be such that the cutout of one is larger than the other. At the very top is a layer of white, cut out a larger middle of it.

Step 4. To create a 3D image, we make a cardboard frame between the layers. We cut out the cardboard and glue it between each layer with glue.

Step 5 As a result, the distance between each layer should be open, as in the picture.

Step 6. We draw and cut out images of underwater plants, fish, etc. with scissors. Give free rein to your imagination.

Step 7. Glue paper plants between layers of water. Glue on the paper fish and you will have an interesting ocean-themed paper craft.

On this project, everyone is awarded the STEAM title, in the categories:
– You have created a 3D layout by studying the wildlife of the underwater world, you are a real scientist – a biologist!
Evaluation
PBL grading criterion:
Project-based learning is a learning method in which students acquire knowledge and skills by working on a single project to explore and find an answer to a genuine, interesting, and complex question, problem, or challenge.
