Lesson 2
Theoretical part
Storyboard

Walt Disney discusses storyboarding with other animators.
It’s worth noting that storyboarding is usually an optional step. A storyboard will help you understand what the frames will look like before creating the animation.
The essence of the storyboard is simple – it is a display of the main animation scenes in static. From the storyboard, you can understand how the scenes from the cartoon look like, their sequence, the location of the main objects in the background, and, in addition, the location of the characters in the background. Once the storyboard is ready, you can start creating the animation.
Practical part
1. In this activity, the groups need to create a storyboard. To do this, imagine what scenes you will have according to the script, and then draw it on paper as an illustration. Arrange the frames in order, such as which side of the frame the characters are on, what the background will be, whether it will rain, when and how the characters will meet, etc.

Part of the cartoon “Up” storyboard
Images do not have to be beautiful, or realistic, it is enough that you understand them. No need to draw every frame, draw the main points.
2. Once the storyboard is complete, prepare the characters and scenery with the materials you brought from home. (make plasticine figures, draw frames, choose dolls and toys) In the next lesson, you will start making animation.
Homework
Complete the storyboard, and prepare the characters, and the scenery according to the storyboard.
