Week 2

3. Holes for cylinders

Take 4 plastic bottles of 0.5 L

Cut out the middle 10.5 cm long.

For each piece, make cuts in one side (bottom) measuring 0.5 cm. Leave approximately 0.5 cm of space between each cut. Bend the notches outward.

Measure the length of the top of the layout and divide it into 4 equal parts. Highlight the division points with a pencil.

Measure the width of the top of the layout and divide it into 2 equal parts. Highlight the middle with a pencil.

Measure the circumference of the top of the plastic cylinder socket and get its radius (divide the length by 2).

Mark the middle of each part (there are 4 of them) of the upper part of the internal combustion engine. Using a compass and the radius obtained earlier, draw four circles at the selected points.

Cut holes for cylinders.

Attach the plastic connector for the cylinder to the hole (the plastic connector should fit into the hole and rest against the edges)

Glue the plastic connectors for the cylinders to the top of the breadboard under the holes. The notches of the plastic parts that are bent outward should be at the bottom. (Use thermoplastic glue. Apply the glue in small drops leaving 1 cm of space to dry. If too much glue is applied at one time, the plastic part may bend and change shape).
