Let’s Make a Thermometer
This project helps students understand the basic principles of measuring temperature based on the properties of liquid expansion and contraction under the influence of heat and cold. By assembling a thermometer on their own, students will be able to compare the temperature of objects in different environments.
Drinking straw - 1 pc
300 ml plastic bottle - 1 pc
Alcohol (medical grade) - 150 ml
Dropper or syringe
Food coloring (red, blue, or green)
Soft modeling clay (any color) - 1-2 pcs
Clear disposable cups - 2 pcs
Cold water and ice
Hot water
Ruler, permanent marker, paper towels
